　最近、プロゴルファーの石川遼君は、本業で全く活躍できてないなあ。

　そのせいか、出演している『スピードラーニング』のCMも、余り見かけなくなってきたし、他のCMも減ってきています。

　そこで今日は、遼君に代わって、英語勉強のための教材３点を提供しましょう。

　Donald Trump tapped into the anger of a declining middle class that is sick and tired of establishment economics, establishment politics and the establishment media.

　ドナルド・トランプは支配勢力の左右する経済・政治・メディアにあきれて嫌になった没落する中流階級の怒りと響きあった。

　People are tired of working longer hours for lower wages, of seeing decent paying jobs go to China and other low-wage countries, of billionaires not paying any federal income taxes and of not being able to afford a college education for their kids - all while the very rich become much richer.

　人々は長時間の労働と低賃金が嫌になり、然るべき支払いのある仕事口が中国などの外国に行くのをみているのが嫌になり、億万長者が連邦の所得税を支払わないのに嫌になり、そして子供たちが大学へ行く学費の余裕もないのに嫌になっている。それにも関わらず、大富豪はさらにリッチになっているのにあきれているのだ。

　To the degree that Mr. Trump is serious about pursuing policies that improve the lives of working families in this country, I and other progressives are prepared to work with him.

② Apple CEO Tim Cook urges employees to 'move forward together' in memo on 2016 presidential election

　皆さん

　I've heard from many of you today about the presidential election.

　皆さんの多くから、大統領選挙についての話を聞きました。

　In a political contest where the candidates were so different and each received a similar number of popular votes, it's inevitable that the aftermath leaves many of you with strong feelings.

　選挙では主張の大きく異なる両候補者が、かなり近い数の票を集めました。皆さんの多くが、この結果に強い感情を抱くのは無理もありません。

　We have a very diverse team of employees, including supporters of each of the candidates.

　私たちは、両候補者の支持者も含む非常に多様性に富んだチームです。

　Regardless of which candidate each of us supported as individuals, the only way to move forward is to move forward together.

　I recall something Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said 50 years ago:

　This advice is timeless, and a reminder that we only do great work and improve the world by moving forward.

　While there is discussion today about uncertainties ahead, you can be confident that Apple's North Star hasn't changed.

　Morning After To-Do List:

　一夜明けた朝のToDoリスト

　1. Take over the Democratic Party and return it to the people. They have failed us miserably.

　1. 民主党を乗っ取ろう。そして人々の手に戻すんだ。民主党の奴らは、我々の期待に情けないほど応えられていない。

　2. Fire all pundits, predictors, pollsters and anyone else in the media who had a narrative they wouldn't let go of and refused to listen to or acknowledge what was really going on. Those same bloviators will now tell us we must "heal the divide" and "come together." They will pull more hooey like that out of their ass in the days to come. Turn them off.

　2. 評論家や予想屋、世論調査員、その他メディアの中で、自分の考えを変えず、実際に起こっていることに目を向けようとしない奴らを首にしよう。偉そうに話をしていた奴らが今、「分裂した国を癒そう」とか「一つになろう」と俺たちに言うんだ。そんなクソ発言を、奴らはこれからもずっと言い続けるだろう。黙らせよう。

　3. Any Democratic member of Congress who didn't wake up this morning ready to fight, resist and obstruct in the way Republicans did against President Obama every day for eight full years must step out of the way and let those of us who know the score lead the way in stopping the meanness and the madness that's about to begin.

　3. この8年間、オバマ大統領と闘い、抵抗し、闘ってきた共和党議員のように、これから闘う気概を持って今朝目覚めなかった民主党の国会議員は出ていけ。そのかわりに、これから始まる野蛮や狂気を止められる術を知っている奴らを、俺たちのリーダーにするんだ。

　4. Everyone must stop saying they are "stunned" and "shocked". What you mean to say is that you were in a bubble and weren't paying attention to your fellow Americans and their despair. YEARS of being neglected by both parties, the anger and the need for revenge against the system only grew. Along came a TV star they liked whose plan was to destroy both parties and tell them all "You're fired!" Trump's victory is no surprise. He was never a joke. Treating him as one only strengthened him. He is both a creature and a creation of the media and the media will never own that.

　4. 「驚愕の結果だ」とか「ショックだ」と嘆くのをやめよう。そんな風に言ったって、自分の世界に閉じこもって、他のアメリカ人や彼らの絶望に目を向けていないだけだ。民主党・共和党の両方に無視された人たちの、既存のシステムに対する復讐心や怒りが大きくなっている。そこに現れたのが、両方の党をぶちこわして「お前はクビだ」というテレビスターだ。トランプが勝ったのは驚きじゃない。奴はただのジョークじゃなかったんだ。そして、支持を得て強くなっている。メディアに住む生き物で、メディアが作り上げた生き物だ。メディアは決してそれを認めないだろうが。

　5. You must say this sentence to everyone you meet today: "HILLARY CLINTON WON THE POPULAR VOTE!" The MAJORITY of our fellow Americans preferred Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump. Period. Fact. If you woke up this morning thinking you live in an effed-up country, you don't. The majority of your fellow Americans wanted Hillary, not Trump. The only reason he's president is because of an arcane, insane 18th-century idea called the Electoral College. Until we change that, we'll continue to have presidents we didn't elect and didn't want. You live in a country where a majority of its citizens have said they believe there's climate change, they believe women should be paid the same as men, they want a debt-free college education, they don't want us invading countries, they want a raise in the minimum wage and they want a single-payer true universal health care system. None of that has changed. We live in a country where the majority agree with the "liberal" position. We just lack the liberal leadership to make that happen (see: #1 above). Let's try to get this all done by noon today.

　5. 今日会う人全員に、こう言わなきゃいけない。「得票数は、ヒラリー・クリントンの方が多かったんだ！」過半数のアメリカ人は、ドナルド・トランプじゃなくてヒラリー・クリントンを選んだ。以上。それが事実だ。今朝目覚めて「自分は最低の国に住んでいる」と思ったのであれば、それは間違いだ。過半数のアメリカ人は、ヒラリーの方が良かったんだ。トランプじゃない。彼が大統領になった、ただ一つの理由は、18世紀に作られた、難解でおかしな「選挙人団」と呼ばれるシステムだ。これを変えない限り、自分が選んでない、望んでもいない奴が大統領になる。この国に住んでいる人の多数が、気候変動を信じ、女性は男性と同じ賃金を払われるべきだと考え、借金をせずに大学に行くこと、他の国に武力侵攻しないこと、最低賃金を上げること、国民皆保険に賛成している。それは何一つ変わっていない。我々は、多数が“リベラル”な考えを支持する国に住んでいる。ただ、それを実現させるリベラルなリーダーがいないのだ（#1に戻って欲しい）。
